Youth
For Charity
A
new initiative to encourage year 10 & 11 students in schools
across Surrey to support local charities has been launched. Students
will be asked to recommend charities for awards from a total fund of
£20K, to fund anything from a new mini bus to help with medical
care and so on. For more information or to add your charity to the
list, go to: http://youthforcharity.blogspot.com/
Office
Space Urgently Needed
First
Steps urgently require office space for 3 members of staff within
the Redhill/Reigate/Horley area.
1
member of staff is currently working a full time week, the other 2
work part time. They are currently located in Woking and it is
becoming increasingly impractical for staff (who cover the South East
of the county) to carry out their roles effectively. They are willing
to pay rent for desk space and a little storage, so please get in
touch with us if you can help and we will pass on your offers.
Thank you!
Volunteer
Projects Urgently Needed!
We
have two teams of volunteers looking to support a project for a day
in late September/October, preferably on an indoor project, such as
DIY/decoration. If you have something these volunteers can help with,
please contact the Volunteer Centre on 01737 762 115 or e-mail
volunteer@rbcvs.org.uk .

Help
Us to Help You - Transforming Local Infrastructure
Local
infrastructure is the term used for the information, advice and
support for Voluntary and Community Organisations.
Infrastructure services include things like: funding advice,
governance advice, help with policies and procedures, help with
developing services, providing up to date information on voluntary
sector issues, training, networking, volunteer recruitment,
representation and voice for the sector.
In
Reigate & Banstead this service is provided by Reigate &
Banstead Voluntary Service. Elsewhere in Surrey these services are
provided by other local Voluntary Actions or CVSs, Surrey
Community Action (who provide generalist support), specialist
infrastructure organisations that cover groups working with a
particular client group such as youth or sport, and some regional and
national organisations who mainly provide services online. Some
organisations also have their own umbrella body that gives
infrastructure support.
With
this number of providers there comes the potential for confusion as
to who does what and there can be duplication between what the
different providers are offering.
The
Government is making a fund available to transform local
infrastructure. This fund will enable current providers to come
together to improve quality and to work more efficiently. However, to
improve what we offer we need to know what support you need and how
you would like it delivered.
How
you can help.
We
would be very grateful if you would fill in the following
survey which will help support our application to this fund.
We
have a very short deadline so would be grateful if you could return
the survey by 22nd August 2011.

that residents can find out more, details of the proposals will be
on display at the Merstham Community Facility between 10 August and

Visiting Basic Foot Care for Disabled People Across Surrey
The
Surrey Disabled Peoples Partnership are extending their
existing foot care service which is now available to disabled adults
across Surrey. In a statement issued this week, they say that many
people take cutting their own toe nails for granted. However, there
are many disabled people who are unable to do this and cannot access
existing services.
For
more information their web
site has full details. Alternatively you can call them on 01483
750973 or send an e-mail.
