The U3A (University of the Third Age) brings together people, of any age, who are not in full-time employment and who want to learn and pursue their interests in an informal and friendly way. Reigate and Redhill branch has over 600 members and 80 groups which meet, usually once or twice a month, in members' homes.

Groups are the life blood of the U3A. All the Groups are interactive and self-organized. Members share their knowledge and skills and learn from each other in a friendly, undemanding environment. Some members have experience, knowledge and skills that they would like to continue practising and pass on to others.

Besides the groups, there are monthly general meetings with invited speakers, coach outings, holidays, study days and summer schools.

So, for a very small annual fee, members learn new skills, acquire new knowledge and interests, keep fit and healthy both mentally and physically and meet new friends.
If you wish to find out more about U3A please visit their website.

Voluntary Sector Forum - Thursday 6 October

The forum is an essential avenue to communicate the voluntary sector's concerns directly with the Borough Council. At this forum, we have three speakers who will set out the challenges as they see it followed by an open discussion. If you have not advised us that you will be coming, please can you e-mail Carol. Please note that this forum is taking place at the Reigate Baptist Church in Woodhatch (and NOT the Town Hall in Reigate). There is plenty of free car parking at this venue.

The Opportunity to Serve Your Community
Reigate & Banstead Voluntary Service (RBVS) is the local support and development organisation which works to champion local voluntary action and strengthen local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in the borough.

RBVS is offering you the opportunity to serve your community by volunteering to become a Trustee/Director of the organisation. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic members of the community, preferably with knowledge of the volunteering sector, who are prepared to join the Management Committee of Trustee/Directors to help pursue the objects of the organisation.

The objects of RBVS are:
1.       To promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community in the borough of Reigate and Banstead and the neighbourhood thereof and, in particular, the advancement of education, the protection of health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness.
2.       To promote and organise co-operation in the achievement of the above purposes and to that end to bring together, in RBVS, representatives of the voluntary organisations and statutory authorities within the Borough,
3.       To challenge all forms of oppression and inequality and give priority to working with people whose full participation in society is limited by economic, political and social disadvantage.

There are a number of vacancies for volunteer Trustee/Directors on the Management Committee of RBVS and we would welcome expressions of interest from all residents of the Borough. We need to boost our committee in all areas but, in particular, we have identified a need to increase the committee's expertise in the area of fundraising in the voluntary sector so would be especially pleased to hear from those already working for local charities and who have special experience in this area.

As a Trustee/Director of RBVS, the minimum involvement required would be attendance at the Lunchtime Network Meetings and Director/Trustee meetings that take place every two months, plus participation in individual working groups, set up by the Directors, to investigate various topics of interest and to prepare reports to the Committee.

If you fell you could contribute to the work of RBVS and would like more details, please contact either:
