Voluntary
Sector Funding Opportunities from the Department of Health
The
Innovation, Excellence and Strategic Development Fund provides
funding to support proposals in the health and care field. The
available funding is very limited and, to be successful,
organisations will need to have a clear focus in their applications
on how their proposals would support and drive forward new ideas,
disseminate and replicate excellence or undertake strategic
developments in voluntary sector capacity and/or capability in health
and care. The Fund is open for applications for projects to start in
April 2012 or later; applications cannot be accepted after the
closing date, which is 21 October 2011 at noon.

Furnistore
has a special offer for students about to embark on new academic
careers during the rest of September - free glasses with any
furniture purchase. Furnistore has a glut of glassware and wants to

available. Furnistore can also deliver furniture to students or
homes anywhere in the East Surrey area.
Directions
and opening times are available on the Furnistore

Evidence submitted will be used to create a final independent report.
For further information or to submit your evidence, send

Corporate
Volunteering - Canon Certainly Can!
As
the result of an approach to Janet Rimmer, 57 Canon employees, not
all from the local office in Reigate, descended on Reigate Heath on
Tuesday 9th August. This event was organised by Simon Elson of
Reigate Area Conservation Volunteers with the active support of staff
from the Countryside Section of Reigate & Banstead Borough
Council together with two members of RACV.
Working
in three teams, the volunteers removed leaf litter which had
accumulated over the years. This enables the area to
revert to its natural habitat of heather and acid grassland,
important components of lowland heath which is becoming an
increasingly rare feature of the landscape.
The
contractors who supplied the roll-on-roll-off bin estimated that
over 5 tons of litter had been shifted. At the end of the day all
went home tired but very happy that an excellent day's work had been achieved.
