Reigate
& Banstead Voluntary Service is organising a two day course in
Media Techniques. The course is designed for voluntary sector
organisations to develop publicity and promotion of their services
and events.
Day
One - Getting Your Story Printed (Thursday 26 May)
This
day is designed for organisations who want to get their stories in
the local press. Understanding how the system works, and how to work
the system, are just as important as sending in a succession of press
releases. The Surrey Mirror's newsroom often receive over 100 media
releases a week and many worth while stories don't get past the
initial filtering by their busy newsroom staff.
The
training day is being organised and run jointly by RBVS and the
Surrey Mirror and aims to help you get your news into print. The
contents of the day include:

Day
Two - Social Networking (Thursday 9 June)
This
session examines how to use sites (such as facebook and Twitter) to
promote your organisation or your activities. The contents of the day include:
